If you’re curious as to what that new smell in the poker room is, it’s PURE EXCITEMENT! The anticipation for our first anniversary is overwhelming.

As everyone knows, today is the first anniversary of Celebration X3. That’s right, it’s been one full year that we have been celebrating LTA’s 13th anniversary.

To honor this major milestone, we added a couple new prizes to the Prize Mart. And to win the coveted CX3 Tokens redeemable in the Prize Mart, we will be unveiling a robust new slate of CX3 events.

So much to see, so much to do!

To start off, for the more crafty among us, Event #4 The Future Filled Box is now live!

Go here to join the fun and try to win this year’s first CX3 token.

And if that isn’t enough, we will also be celebrating the first anniversary of CX3 with a post-spring break dip in the Rapids water park. So clear Monday April 20th if you want to frolic the day away with soggy coworkers.

If interested in a discounted ticket for $35, get your order and money in to an LTA manager by Easter (regular OR orthodox).

And finally, as we do every year, LTA will be participating in the Rooney 5K on April 4th. If you are LTA staff and have registered, see me to get reimbursed for your entry.

This year's company t-shirts will be available before the race. The new shirts are nowhere near as badass as they were last year. But if you want to show your LTA pride as you run for a good cause, make sure to grab your (less exciting, but nonetheless dignified and wonderfully soft) t-shirt when they come in next week.

Happy first anniversary!

(Please celebrate responsibly.)

Just wanted to post a fast note to say that we are getting gifts again for some families going through difficult times. If you have an interest in running down some presents, just let Lauren V or a manager know. Obviously LTA will cover the costs. You only need to do a little shopping.

We’re hoping to get everything wrapped up by Wednesday December 10th. So if you want to help bring a little holiday joy to some local families, don’t be shy.

NOT the winner...
NOT the winner...

When I asked us to come up with something that “LTA” could stand for, I knew I was opening a barrel of Pandora's worms. I had no idea what direction people would go. Anarchy ensued.

We got goofy/silly ideas like “Laughing Troll Academy” and “Little Tiny Ants. (This secret explains how the shufflers can cheat for us but also why they break so often.)”

We also received astute 3 word wisdoms like “Logic Trumps Assumptions” and “Luck Trumps All.”

Besides “Trumping All” we also had luck “Takes All,”  and “Turns Around” as well as the fairly underrated “Luck, Thrills and Attractions.”

And not surprisingly, we had a few L.T.A.s that leaned a little darker than I might have, referencing losers and assholes such as "Loser's Testimonial Archive” or “Lonely Table Addicts.” Without reading too much into what this says about us, assholes got the most votes.

There was one and only one submission that was conceived and offered by more than one person. Both Hector AND Lauren C felt that "LTA" could in some ways refer to “Listening To Assholes.”

I’m more of an accentuate the positive kind of guy. Nonetheless, I can understand how on very, very rare occasions “listening to assholes” might seem like something that we do some amount of.  Personally, I would have prefered “Listening to the Wondrous Patrons who Generously Choose to Spend Their Valuable Time with Us, Supporting the Business that Allows Us the Economic Lives we Have.” But that's me.

Regardless of what I think, the people have spoken! The most votes went to “Listening To Assholes,” from both Hector and Lauren C. Interestingly enough that was not the only ass in the race. I completely underestimated just how much ass we would get.

“Listening to assholes”, “Little Tiny Assholes”, and for some reason "Lips To Ass” were also ideas someone thought would make a good LTA. But if you add up not just those asses but all the asses in the 2 “assassin” themed entries and the asses in “assumption”, “assets” and even “assuage” it comes out to almost a dozen asses. A new CX3 record amount of ass!

In second place, was the more optimistic and supportive “Let’s Try Again” coming from eternally optimistic and supportive Matt. And tied for 3rd were worthy entries "Lights, Tables, Action!” and “Legendary Table Assassins - (Ass so nice we use it twice)” coming from Misty and Alex.

So thank you.

For the record, it was a lot of fun for me to see what you came up with. While I am not a fan of the vibe behind "Lonely Table Addicts", I can not deny the lean haikuesque creativity. And "limp, Tank, All-in" is such perfectly condensed poker drama.

It was interesting to see which two of us would ignore the stated instructions and only vote for their own entry. It was a blast just to watch the votes come in, to see what you liked. If you were curious, here are the final vote counts.

And, as the people who read deep into the last post know, we had one last bonus contest from Event #1, asking how many people typed in the “$” when they were guessing the amount of money on the ground, the exact number being pretty low. Out of 220 total Event #1 entries there were only 25 people who used a “$” like "$25,879." Most everyone’s guesses for the bonus contest were air balls soaring well over the backboard.

However, it was the person whose very job it is to know a lot about you who was initially the closest. Jeanette, our HR shogun, was closest for quite awhile. But then the woman most senior within the “$” department put her answer in. Meghann, head of the cashier cage was the one who guessed 25, the dead exact number. Turns out she knows $.

And finally, everyone who took the time to vote on Event #2 was entered into a token raffle. The winner of that shiny new CX3 token is Kelsea.

And that’s it for now. Event #3 will unlock on Tuesday September 23rd.

(If you agree or disagree with any of the votes, feel free to bitch about it in the comments below.)
